My Family and I look a trip to the campgrounds near our town last weekend. As soon as I see the entrance gate, I felt a sudden tingling feeling bubbles trough my body knowing a two days of relaxing bliss is about to be angaged in. I rolled down the car window, and I melt the crisp earth, see the glassy lake, and taste the campfire cooked chicken and fish.
We’d set up our campsite as soon as we arrived at the shady place near the lake. I could hear the fresh, cool lake calling my name. I almost couldn’t wait to swim in the glimmering water. After setting up the tent, I and my sister went swimming. It was really enjoyable we played fresh water.
I learned how to catch fish and clean their raw, scaly bodies. The fish were for our dinner. As the sun sets, the lake slowly grew cold. The sky filled with bright, twinkling stars. The campfire blazed warming the cool air. I could feel the heat touching my face and the campfire smoke almost perfumed our clothes. We cooked the fish and chicken.
My favorite part was cooking the fish I caught. I’d hold it over the fire hoping for it no to catch on fire. But most of the time I’d pull it out with it drenched in flames. Yet, there was always something about campfire cooked food that I loved. I woke up in the morning with happy feeling.
On Sunday afternoon we waved good bye to the campgrounds. Keeping the memories of the dazzling lake, crisp earth, twinkling stars, and sweet smells of campfire food. Having a ripping feeling of sadness, I’d leave with a smile on my face, knowing I’d back again soon.

“Tomorrow is our National Heroes’ Day. Therefore, in our history lesson today I want to discuss it’s background,” Mr. Suhita said at the beginning of the lesson.
“This takes us back to the bloody battle in Surabaya on 10th of November, 1945. After the Japanese surrended, the Allied (sekutu) forces landed in Indonesia to disarm the Japanese troops. They agreed not to interfere in the internal affairs (urusan dalam negeri) of our new republic. But they did not to keep their promise, and fights between the Indonesians and the Allies in different parts of the country were inevitable. One of the battles broke out in Surabaya where Brigadier-General Mallaby of the Allies forces was killed. This made the Allies very angry. The commander or the Allied forces for East Java, Mayor-General Mansergh, issued (mengeluarkan) an ultimatum. It said that the authority and the people of Surabaya had to hand over any weapons they possessed. The deadline was 06.00 a.m. on 10th November, 1945.
“The ultimatum was ignored. Therefore, the Allied forces attacked Surabaya on 10th November, 1945. They were much better armed than the Indonesians fighters. The streets ran with blood, women and children lay dead everywhere. The Kampongs were in flames. The Indonesian fought the enemy very bravely. The Allies won the battle but they suffered a great loss.”
